Privacy Policy

RiderUnion uses your precise location, and uses it in the background with the screen off. That is what makes turn-by-turn guidance work in your pocket and what lets a recorded ride keep its track when the phone locks.

Location is used while you are navigating, recording a ride, or looking at the map. It is not collected in the background at other times. Your position is sent to our mapping provider to draw the map, search for places and calculate routes, and latitude and longitude are sent to our weather provider to show conditions along the route. Rides you record are stored on your account so they appear in your Ride Journal.

Creating an account stores your email address, a securely hashed password, your name and your username. Your username and profile photo are public — that is how other riders see you. Your email address is not shown to other riders.

Recorded rides include the route you travelled, distance, duration and timing. Planned and saved routes are stored on your account. Rides are private to you unless you choose to publish a route.

If you tell RiderUnion how you like to ride — riding style, experience, preferred road types, things to avoid — we store those on your profile and use them to rank route suggestions. They are optional, and the app works without them.

What you type into the AI Planner is sent to RiderUnion’s backend and then to an AI provider to generate the plan, together with the locations it works out from your request. Please do not type personal or sensitive information into the prompt.

Your prompt is not attached to analytics or crash reports.

We collect crash reports and app-freeze diagnostics so we can fix what breaks, and product events describing which features are used and when. Both are linked to your account’s anonymous identifier so we can tell one rider’s session from another’s — never your email address or your name.

These carry no coordinates, no route geometry and no text you have typed. Session recording and screenshots are switched off.

No advertising, no ad networks, no data brokers, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we do not sell personal information. There is nothing in RiderUnion that follows you outside RiderUnion.

Some data never leaves your device: your app settings, saved AI plans, the ride currently being recorded, the personalisation RiderUnion learns from your ride feedback, and diagnostic logs used for troubleshooting. Those logs are only ever shared if you export and send one yourself.

Supabase — hosting, sign-in, database and file storage; holds your account, profile, rides and routes. Mapbox — maps, search and routing; receives coordinates and search terms. OpenWeather — weather; receives coordinates only, with no account information. OpenAI — generates AI ride plans from your prompt. Sentry — crash diagnostics. PostHog — product analytics.

These providers process data on our instructions to deliver their part of the service. Several operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your country.

You can delete your account in the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, routes, rides and collections, and clears the personalisation stored on your device. It cannot be undone.

You can also ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data by email, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.

RiderUnion is not intended for children under 16.

If this policy changes materially we will update this page and change the date above. Continuing to use RiderUnion after a change means the updated policy applies.
